Ring of Bright Water by Gavin Maxwell

This book is about a life of author and his three otters, Chahala, Mijibil and Edal.    He came to Camusfearna. Camusfearna is part of Scotland and there are few people and nature is very beautiful. In there, he lived in a big house with a otter. He had been with a dog before, but the dog died. He felt alone so that he wanted to keep an animal to live with him but he could not decide which animal to choose.    One day, he went to Southern Iraq. While he was there, he had a idea of keeping an otter instead of a dog. He thought that Camusfearna is the best place to keep otters because the water is clean, they run around the huge field and people are quite few. He got a otter from his friend and the otter seemed like him. He named her Chahala. But few months later, the otter mistakenly eat a bird witch ate a poisoned-fish and she died. He felt like he lost his child and became alone again.    He got a new otter from Arabs. The next otter has chocolate brown color skin and he liked tha

Ireland by Tim Vicary (3)

This time, I would like to write about chapter 2 of this book.     Chapter 2 is about around the island of Ireland. Ireland is an island like a plate. Which means it is higher on the out side than in the center. I thought that this is like a caldera. I live in Kumamoto and caldera is one of the famous things in Kumamoto.  The center of Ireland, there are beautiful lakes and rivers. People go there to fish and sail.     Most of Ireland's mountains are not very high - the highest mountain is Carrantouhill (1,040 meters.) Mt. Aso is 1,592 meters so I can imagine that Carrantohill is not very high and the name includes "hill", not "Mt."      "Much of the north and west of Ireland is very beautiful. There are hundreds of flowers in the green fields, and there are wonderful beaches and lakes." (p. 3)     This sentence  makes me imagine a so beautiful scenery. Also the weather is warm and wet in Ireland. This seems good to live in.     However, the center

I will write a summary of chapter 3: Celtic Ireland.    This chapter is about Celtic people. Celts came to Ireland from western France and northern Spaiq thousands years ago so Irish people are Celtic. A Greek writer described the Celtic   that they are tall and strong.     There was a man called Cuchulainn, he fight with a strong dog and he won. The dog was called a hound, so after this, he was called 'The Hound of Ulster.    Celtic games are very popular in Ireland. Gaelic football is one of the Celtic games. In Gaelic football the players can use their feet and hands.     Some people in Ireland speak the Celtic language called Irish. Irish is very different from English.    Irish was nearly a dead language before because Irish people spoke English and few people spoke Irish. School didn't teach Irish. However, many children learn Irish at school so Irish language is popular again.

Ireland by Tim Vicary

This week I read "Ireland."  As the title this book is written about Ireland' s history, culture and so on.    This book consists of 12 chapters.  I think this book mainly tells about Ireland's history. Chapter1and 2 are about nature of Ireland. "Ireland is an island like a plate"(p.2)    I think this is a good example. I thought that's like a shape of Kumamoto. Kumamoto is also surrounded by mountains so I could imagine easily.   Chapter3 tells about Celtic people. "The  Celts are . . . tall and strong."(p.5)    When I was a junior high school student, my English teacher was a Irish man. Now the reason why he is tall is that he got Celtic people's gene. I think. Fron chapter 4 to chapter8 are about Ireland's history. "You can see the Red Hand on the flags of Northern Ireland."(p.11)    There is a story of Ulster's flag. A man cut off his hand to get a place in Ulster so there is a red hand on Ulster's flag.    Cha

Psycho by Robert Bloch

This week, I read "Psycho". I attracted the title so I choose this book.      This book has some gross scene so if you don't like it, I don't recommend you to read this book.        Marion was lost with her boss's money. She run away with it to marry her boyfriend. He had a his father's debt so he said after pay back all the debt, he can marry her. She wanted to marry him immediately so she stole her boss's money. But she was killed in a motel.      As the title, there is a person who has mental illness but that's not written at first so I didn't notice that one people has a mental illness. I could know at the end of the story.    This book was very interesting so if you like a kind of horror story, why don't you read this!

The Red Pony

I read "The Red Pony."  I think that many people think this story is about a red pony when they hear or see the title and I thought that. But actually, a red pony died the first half of the story. After finished reading this book, I didn't feel that I read a story of the red pony. I think that's one of the interesting point :)    Natural portrayal is very beautiful in this story, a breathtaking scenery comes to my mind.  If you read this book after reading my blog, please focus on natural portrayals.    I learned the importance of life and difficulties of reading people's mind from this book. I think this book tell us many things. I recommend this book!

Gone With the Wind part2

This week I read “gone with the wind”. At first, I couldn’t understand this story then I realized that I borrowed part two! But it was interesting that reading without knowing previous story.    Scarlett told a lie about she is rich and has a great deal of debt to Rhett. But a man who she likes noticed that because her hands were rough. She also made her dress with curtain and she looked gorgeous. I thought she was struggling to lend money and thought a lot.      Scarlett lied many times to get money because she failed to lend money from Rhett. And she married Frank but she didn’t love him. I don’t like to marry someone who I don’t love and only for money. I thought she is not a good person because she lied a lot in this story.     This book made me think a lot about money. I don't think money is everything in life.
