Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare(2002)

     This week I read Romeo and Juliet. I've seen this movie before. This novel is like a script so I thought this is hard to read for the first time, but after I thought this type is interesting to read.


ROMEO [to himself]: Who is that beautiful lady, shining so brightly in the dark night? She is too beautiful for ordinary life, too special for this world! She is like a lovely white bird in a group of ugly ones. At end of this dance, I'll see where she stands. I'll try and touch her lovely hand with my rough one. Was I in love before? - No - not until tonight.(p.9)

     I like this scene. Romeo was in love other lady until he met Juliet, but he was foregot about her immediately so I could feel that he was in love her strongly. At first glace, this scene looks the start of love but this is aloso end of the love.


Juliet: Do I hear a noise? Than I'll be quick. [ shee sees Romeo's knife and picks it up. ] Oh, friendly knife! My body will be your final resting-place. [ she pushes the knife into her body and falls dead. ](p.50)

     This is almost end of the story. Few minutes ago, Romeo killed by himself by drinking a strong poison. If he received a letter from Friar or arrived  late, they could meet in this world, not in haven.

Ireland by Tim Vicary

    This week I read "Ireland."  As the title this book is written about Ireland' s history, culture and so on.    This book consists of 12 chapters.  I think this book mainly tells about Ireland's history. Chapter1and 2 are about nature of Ireland. "Ireland is an island like a plate"(p.2)    I think this is a good example. I thought that's like a shape of Kumamoto. Kumamoto is also surrounded by mountains so I could imagine easily.   Chapter3 tells about Celtic people. "The  Celts are . . . tall and strong."(p.5)    When I was a junior high school student, my English teacher was a Irish man. Now the reason why he is tall is that he got Celtic people's gene. I think. Fron chapter 4 to chapter8 are about Ireland's history. "You can see the Red Hand on the flags of Northern Ireland."(p.11)    There is a story of Ulster's flag. A man cut off his hand to get a place in Ulster so there is a red hand on Ulster's flag.    Cha

Lost at Sea

They are cold and wet. They are very tired. They cannot call for help.(p.15)    Tyler, Daniela, and their friends take their boat out for the day to swim near an island. Faye's mother calls that a storm is coming but they can't go back. They reached an island and make shelter and fire. Next day, they write SOS with the stones and they can go back to each home. The Moneymaker by Janet Gleason (1999)

   I read “The moneymaker.” As written, this story is about money.    John Law was gambler, murderer and adventure. He tried to spread an idea of paper money in Paris.   Before the paper money invented, people used  gold and silver as way to buy things in Europe. But there were not many gold and silver so countries had to pay back a lot of debt. Law thought that the paper money system is the only way to solute the problem. He had many good feiends but also had many enemies. Good friends helped him to spead his idea, enemies tried to disturb him. He overcame many difficulties and he was very lucky man. He lost all his money once, but he always won gambling and got a huge amount of money. However, when he was dead, the paper money system was still doubtful.    Paper money system is normal to us now, I can't imagine the world that we don't use paper money.    This book was difficult for me because level is 5 and the story is very long so it took long time to finished reading.
